We're having a very cold spell here in the UK -- much like the one happening in the US now. The temperatures haven't gotten above freezing since we returned here on Sunday morning; it's not expected to get above 28 degrees F today. On Tuesday/Wednesday, we got about 7" of fresh snow. It's gorgeous.

The roads, however, are treacherous and trains sporadic, so D worked from home yesterday. We took a late afternoon walk through town:

and out to the local cricket grounds. The local sledding (called, and pronounced, "sledging" here) hill is just behind the cricket grounds, and we laughed when we saw the ragtag assortment of sledges being used there. Because there isn't often much snow, the kids here don't necessarily grow up with sledges in their garages. We saw lots & lots of plastic cafeteria trays, some pilfered road signs, even a makeshift wooden pallet sledge! I'm happy to report that there were a handful of proper plastic toboggans, and even one old-fashioned Radio Flyer. We hope you are keeping warm and cozy during this cold weather!
