D's Mom's Birthday Celebration Weekend

We spent a fantastic weekend celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday at the Wintergreen Resort in Virginia. All three of Carol's sons and all five of the grandkids were there, which made for a very special and very fun celebration. We played games... swam... chatted, relaxed, and enjoyed one another's company. The children in our family don't get to watch much TV at home (especially cable TV). So it was a real treat for them to have cable television available, including an especially cool -- no pun intended! -- TV in the refrigerator door! They were mesmerized...We hiked through the woods... ...to a waterfall. Thanks to someone who had difficulty reading the trail map (who shall remain nameless -- but his name rhymes with Jeeve!), the leisurely hike we planned with Mom actually became a steep and challenging hike about halfway through. But Mom was a trooper and made it the whole way with many laughs and without complaint. Obviously, 70 is the new 40! Dave's dad couldn't join us on the hike, as he had broken his leg a few weeks ago. He did a great job getting around on his crutches all weekend, and got only a wee bit of coaching from our resident physical therapist, Maria. On Saturday night, we all got dressed up and went out for birthday dinner... then came back to the house for cake and ice cream -- and presents! In 40 years, this family...
has grown to this family:Happy Birthday Mom!! We love you!
