My parents arrived on Sunday evening, and it has been a very nice visit. On Tuesday, the three of us (D had to work) went into the city to see the musical "Jersey Boys" at the Prince Edward Theatre.
After the matinee show, D met us in the city and we went for dinner at the OXO Tower restaurant, overlooking the Thames River and St. Paul's Cathedral. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at their bar.
You might wonder why my Mom is sitting a bit lower than the rest of us. She was wearing silk pants and couldn't stay on her metal bar stool -- she just kept sliding right off -- so we had to secure her a "regular" chair! On our walk from the bar into the restaurant for dinner, we saw that we were going to have to pass directly behind this scene:
Of course, I had to ask the maitre d' what was going on, and he explained that a local London TV personality was conducting an interview. "And who is he interviewing?" It was the New Kids on the Block, the 1990's "boy band", who are in town promoting their reunion album. Here is the photo I took of four of them, as we walked past:
They left the restaurant shortly after we were seated for dinner, and we enjoyed the rest of our meal (with the Older Kids on the Block) without chair slippage issues or celebrity sightings!
