Don & Cathy Cross the Channel

Here they are as they emerge from the Channel after their long swim from Belgium. Don't they look refreshed! We had such a fun weekend visit here with Don & Cathy. We did lots of "quintessentially British" things like drinking Pimms cocktails with strawberry, orange, and cucumber garnishes....
...eating Cornish Pasties......enjoying England's lovely summer beach weather(!)......shopping for and indulging in seaside specialties like cockles, whelks, anchovies, and sardines at stands along the Brighton beachfront......and checking out the colorful and unusual characters at our local pub. Here, Don and Cathy demonstrate that they fit right in!Oh, that's so unfair. But we did have a funny and oh-so-memorable evening at the pub! And despite appearances, Cathy did not attempt a cartwheel at the edge of the cliffs at Beachy Head: Don convinced her otherwise. What would he do with out her?
To see more about our weekend, check out our guests' blog here. (But don't believe a word about me dancing at the pub. It's probably not true...!)

Dave must have been freaking out when she got that close to the edge:)

Did you guys go get one of those excellent fish sandwiches in Brighton?

Hey J:
At Beachy Head, you can see that the picture was taken from a distance, so he wasn't near enough to stop her! He doesn't like it when anyone gets too close to the edge, as you well remember. And YES, D took us back to that smelly fish place! I had to admit that this time there was no odor -- and D had to admit that when we were there with you, there had been! Hugs,
A.
