We made a quick trip back to the US last week in order for D to attend some meetings in Annapolis. We arrived in Baltimore early evening on the 4th of July, which meant that we made it to my parent's home at the Inner Harbor in time for a fantastic pulled pork barbeque dinner and the Independence Day fireworks. My brother and his family had spent the week with my parents and were still there on the 4th, so we were able to visit with them too.

Steve and Maria and their boys joined us for the fireworks.

We split our time during our stay between Steve and Maria's house, my parent's place, and Annapolis. Steve & Maria gave D Orioles baseball tickets for his birthday this year. My Dad joined us at the game. The game had a bit of everything, including 29 hits, 21 men left on base, three errors, and a final score of 11-10. Unfortunately the O's lost, but it was a fun game to watch..

We enjoyed attending the kids' Vacation Bible School evening program.

One little girl was so inspired that she
shouted all of the words to all of the songs -- so cute! Here are the boys, with their best buddy Andrew, enjoying the ice cream social that followed. Andrew's mom Susan just gave birth to twin boys (their 4th and 5th children -- bless them!) and I enjoyed visiting with the babies during the week, too.

Our youngest nephew had been telling us that he wanted to try sushi. So D and I gave him both sashimi (sliced raw fish on top of rice) and sushi rolls to try. He didn't like them much, but he enjoyed the experience! He was very intrigued by the roe on the outside of the rolls -- especially when he found out that he was eating fish eggs! ("Must be from some pretty tiny fish!", he said.)

Our time in Annapolis overlapped with Randy, Lisa, Danica, and Kyle's annual summer trip to the US from Singapore. We had a fun visit with them. Here we are in front of the Tecumseh statue at the US Naval Academy. Not exactly the cold, snowy weather they had when they visited us in England for Spring Break!

We ended the visit with a crab feast at Bo Brooks' Crab House on the waterfront in Baltimore. My parents, Steve & Maria and their boys, and Peder & Michelle and their sons all joined us. What a fun way to cap off our visit!
