Qatar

We're enjoying our latest visit to the Middle East. (Well, I'm enjoying it -- while D works...!) We left Dubai yesterday and flew to Doha, Qatar. Doha appears to be a less Westernized, less built-up city than Dubai. Sort of a "Dubai wanna-be". I'll post more about our trip later, but here are a few photos from our travels thus far.

I took a comprehensive tour of Dubai this visit, and spent time in the Dubai Museum. Learned a lot about the history of Dubai as a pearl trading hub.

I went to Jumeirah Beach and the Madinat, and again enjoyed seeing the world's only 7-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab. The helipad at the top has been used as a tennis court for Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, and as a tee for Tiger Woods. I watched a helicopter land there yesterday...I suppose if you can afford rooms at $3000 - $28000per night, you might well fly there in your helicopter.

This is the tallest structure in the world -- the Burj in Dubai. 159 completed floors and counting.

And this is Qatar.
