"Across the Arid Desert Sands, Comes an Arab Caravan..."

More Dubai
Once D wrapped up the busy business portion of the trip, we had a free afternoon and evening together in Dubai. We joined some friends (currently living in Dubai) on a desert safari. We were picked up by the safari outfitter company at our hotel in a 4-wheel drive SUV. We were then driven out of the city and into the desert. After a brief stop in the desert to let air out of the tires of the vehicle, we went "dune bashing" off road -- driving around and over the tall desert dunes. It was a lot of fun and a bit like driving in snow as we slipped and slid down the face of the large dunes. We stopped at a Bedouin camel farm, where we got up close and personal with the single hump camels of the region. You'll see by the expression on his face that D wasn't thrilled to be standing so close to the camels! After sunset, we drove on to a large camp where we rode a camel(!) and joined many others for a traditional mezze and mixed grill dinner. It was "touristy" but we both enjoyed getting out of the city and experiencing the desert.

Allison,
We received your lovely Christmas card in the mail and I am very excited to see your blog. Since my new "big kid" job requires me to spend most of my day on the computer, I love to read blogs when I get a spare momment!

I cannot believe you went to Dubai. I promised my roommate that as soon as I win the lottery we are going there on vacay.

I hope all is well in England and I really truely hope to come visit you and David sometime soon. Winning the lottery would really come in handy in most aspects of my life. I am trying to get off work to go to Budapest in March for this skating thing. Maybe I could have a stop over in Jolly old England then. We shall see.

Please tell me that you got tickets to see the Spice Girls!

Cheers!

I wish I got Spice Girls tix! I am still looking for a good deal for when they come to DC in feb. Keep your fingers crossed. I was too young to go to their concert the first time around.

My mom says "HI!". She is not so quick with the blogging. But I will try to teach her.

Tell David and the kitties I said HI!
