Sunday in London

Yesterday, Jason, Jackie, D and I spent the day in London. We had gorgeous weather for touring. We started with lunch in the Mayfair section of town, at the Lebanese Restaurant "Sofra". We met our good friend Peder (D's roommate at UVa) for lunch there -- Peder was back in London for the weekend for client meetings. We all loved the food, and we had a great time catching up. From there, we walked all over town, stopping at Harrods (where Jason enjoyed seeing the Ferrari racing bicycles), Hyde Park, Parliament and Big Ben, the London Eye, St. James Park, and Buckingham Palace.
London, Sunday 23 September
As it turns out, many of the major roads in the city were closed yesterday for the Hovis London Freewheel, a huge mass participation bicycle ride through the city. We saw thousands of bicyclists, and we enjoyed walking down roads and across Thames bridges that were free from car traffic. (Had I known in advance about the event, I would have signed Jason up! Maybe that would have given him an excuse to spend $6000 on a Ferrari racing bike??)

Wahoos in London! woo hoo!

My brother got his MFA there and his wife is a UVa law grad. They were students there in the early 80s. My bro worked in the law library when he was a grad student.
