Here's to Another Two Years of Happiness!

On our second wedding anniversary, way back in January of 1989, D and I went out to a restaurant for dinner. When the wine arrived, D lifted his glass to mine and said, "Well, hon, here's to another two years of happiness!" Apparently, he thought it was a lovely and fitting toast on our 2nd anniversary. I just looked at him for a long moment...before telling him in rather blunt terms that I thought I ought to get more than just another two years of happiness out of the deal!

On every one of our 18 wedding anniversaries since, D has lifted his glass and again offered a toast to "another two years of happiness". And every year I "re-up" for another two years. You know, I think this annual two-year extension thing works pretty well for us!

Tonight, we celebrated Jason & Jackie's second wedding anniversary with them. (Can it REALLY have been two years since their fantastic wedding?!?) At the restaurant, D offered a toast -- to another two years of happiness. :-)

Happy 2nd Anniversary guys! We love you!

I'm an Episcopalian and it's traditional to read prayers during the service for those celebrating anniversaries and birthdays.

One year my husband was the reader the week it was time for our anniversary. And his normally perfect reading faltered as he prayed that we would increase in "faithlessness" to one another.

Thank God he didn't answer that prayer. : )

Laughing out loud! Sometimes you do have to thank God for unanswered prayers! Did the congregation burst into laughter?
